About The Garden Rooms

When we discovered 96 Tay Street at the end of 2022, we knew this tired Victorian villa held incredible potential. Built in 1864 for Captain Thomas Ewing, this historic house has been home to just six families before us. After two years or so of careful restoration, we're proud to welcome you to our small family-run bed and breakfast on the shores of the Firth of Tay.

Our refurbishment has focused on sympathetically blending original Victorian features with modern comfort. The Garden Rooms overlook the restored gardens and offers a peaceful retreat that we like to think of as Newport's secret hideaway.

We've taken care to source products ethically and locally, choosing environmentally friendly options wherever possible. Every detail has been considered to create a true home away from home while staying true to the villa's heritage. We look forward to welcoming you to The Garden Rooms.
